Karen can sleep through anything, including gunshots.*
This is how it goes down, usually:
1. we get into bed
2. we have the great idea of watching something detectivey like law&order or numbers or bones together
3. karen falls asleep 10 minutes in.
4. lai stays awake anxiously to find out who the hell killed and raped the girl, damnit!
5. the episode is over. monitor screen still on, glowing creepily, and lai is too scared to get out of bed to turn it off.
6. finally, after failing to fall sleep with the ghost-light from the computer, lai braves the steps toward the monitor and turns it off, climbs into bed haunted by the images of fictionalized murder-rapists and creepy corpses from show
8. lai vows never to do this again.
9. repeat steps 1-9.


* I should clarify: I mean the sounds of gunshots. I'm not entirely sure how to visually interpret the phrase "sleep through gunshots" but it could be a variety of things, perhaps, ranging from awesome to gruesome to sad.
